Christie founded the Boulder Center for Play Therapy in 2008. Christie is also the creator and clinical director of Attachment Based Play Therapy.  Central to Christie’s approach is that each time she enters the therapeutic space, she is willing to love it all. She trusts that her client’s deepest core part (soul, essence, spirit, inner flame, higher self, etc.) holds the map to the parts of themselves that want to be seen and loved exactly as they are, and so she trusts them to lead the way. In the journey to the deep, dark, dusty, mix-up corners of the soul, she wants to be fully present, as she sees this process as her sacred journey to reclaim and love all her parts, the ones she knows in herself and finds in you.

Christie graduated from Naropa University with a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology. She completed a distinguished internship with Access Counseling where she studied Experiential Play Therapy. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Registered Play Therapist (RPT). She is also a member of the Colorado Association for Play Therapy and The Boulder Psychotherapy Institute. Christie studied for many years with Gay and Kathlyn Hendricks and The Boulder Center for Conscious Living. In addition, she spent 5 years studying and working with Dr. John Demartini. She is trained in EMDR.

Before entering the counseling field, Christie spent 10 years working for The Children’s Storefront School in Harlem, NY teaching 3rd grade and acting as Director for the Storefront Summer Camp. She also spent 6 months living at Deer Park Monastery as a Buddhist student of Thich Nhat Hanh. She graduated with her undergraduate degree from Middlebury College in Vermont. Christie enjoys everything elephant, traveling, reading, and hiking.
